David E Shaw elected to Teddy Roosevelt Society
by David E Shaw
In September 2016 I completed my six year term as a presidential appointee to the board of trustees of the National Park Foundation.
My final meeting as a trustee occurred at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Oyster Bay, New York, which preserves the home and museum of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th president of the United States.
At this meeting, amidst the historic 100 year anniversary of the US National Park Service, I was elected to the Teddy Roosevelt Society. With other trustees and senior government officials, we reflected on the history and importance of America’s national park system, and on recent accomplishments in our centennial campaign.
It was a great honor to be part of this historic effort, and to conclude my term in the celebrated surroundings of Roosevelt’s home at Sagamore Hill.
