I’m happy to share this important news for Modern Meadow, a pioneering bio-fabrication company where I have been a collaborator and supporter from the earliest days – more than 10 years ago. In this news release, we announce the closing of a $130 million Series C financing, and a founding CEO succession plan.
I have had the good fortune of knowing and working with founding CEO Andras Forgacs prior to the creation of Modern Meadow, and I served as an independent member of the Modern Meadow board for ~10 years. In late 2020 I transitioned to an advisory role and continue to actively support the company.
The appointment of Anna Bakst to succeed Andras Forgacs as CEO is the result of a thoughtful succession plan. I helped recruit Anna to the board in 2017 and enthusiastically supported her transition to board chair last year. Her experience from executive positions at Kate Spade, Michael Kors and Donna Karan bring highly valuable capabilities to Modern Meadow as we commercialize our bio-fabricated materials, including “lab-grown leather”.
I send congratulations to Andras, Anna and the Modern Meadow team, and share this press release.
