Maine’s Thriving Tech Economy at the Bi-Centennial

By David E. Shaw

As the State of Maine celebrates it’s bi-centennial, it is noteworthy that entrepreneurial tech businesses have emerged to become a powerful force in Maine’s economy over the past several decades.  I’m grateful to have played a leadership role in that tech economy, including IDEXX and Covetrus with combined revenues exceeding $6 billion and global staffing of more than 10,000 people.   As a tribute to all those who have contributed to the success of Maine’s tech economy,  I’m pleased to share a recent bi-centennial webinar co-hosted with the University of Southern Maine, including a short film I made for this occasion.   These examine the current state and future growth prospects of this large and thriving sector of Maine’s business community.

President Glenn Cummings shared the webinar with the USM community with this message and video link:

I recently had the pleasure of co-hosting with David Shaw, Managing Partner of Black Point Group, CEO and Founder of IDEXX Laboratories, and recipient of both an M.B.A. and an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from USM.

For this stimulating discussion about the future of Maine’s tech economy, David assembled an all-star roster of state and national technology entrepreneurs and thought leaders.
