David E. Shaw Family Endowed Chair for Innovation at The Jackson Laboratory
by David E. Shaw, chair emeritus, JAX Board of Trustees
In appreciation of the enormous importance of our work, and to celebrate leaders who have been treasured friends and colleagues over more than 30 years, I am delighted to announce the creation of the David E. Shaw Family Endowed Chair for Innovation at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX). Our hope is that this new leadership position will provide enduring support and inspiration for entrepreneurship and innovation aimed at expanded translation of the laboratory’s amazing work into products and services that benefit the world.
The establishment of this endowed chair comes amidst a thoughtful leadership transition at JAX. Our gift is intended to show our love for this special place, to honor the remarkable legacies of Edison Liu and Kenneth Paigen, and to support incoming CEO Lon Cardon.
