Lord Howe Island: Resilient Gem of the Tasman Sea

In January 2026, I journeyed to Lord Howe Island, a remote seamount rising from the Tasman Sea and home to the world’s most southerly coral reefs. What I found was more than extraordinary beauty  … volcanic peaks, pristine waters, rare species, and vibrant marine life.  I witnessed a powerful lesson in stewardship. 

Once devastated by invasive rats, the island’s remarkable recovery demonstrates the importance of responsible stewardship to support the resilient power of natural systems.  Today, seabirds and endemic species are rebounding. 

This short film briefly captures the character of this special place, and the impact of wise conservation practices.
