Sharing “innerview” experiences via special edition of Oceanographic Magazine

At the request of Oceanographic Magazine, I was honored to recently share a written account of my “innerview “ experience - a profound cognitive shift associated with a deep sense of awe that can occur when  immersed in ocean ecosystems.  It is an experience similar to the “overview effect” described by astronauts when  seeing Earth from space.

My innerview statement was published with similar statements by other prominent ocean stewards in a special issue several weeks ago, followed by a gathering at the Royal Geographic Society in London.    The purpose of assembling these statements is to capture and communicate the transformative force of ocean experiences in better understanding ourselves and the superpower of complex life on Earth.

My contribution to this effort can be viewed here:

Congratulations to Oceanographic Magazine for undertaking this important work.
