As Treasurer emeritus of AAAS, the world's largest general science society, and a member of the Nautilus Advisory Board, I'm happy to share this provocative article, from the World Economic Forum, about the importance of supporting science to benefit society. As John Steele points out, conditions that allow science to flourish and give it value include freedom of inquiry, evidence based analysis, openness to correction, patience with uncertainty, and humility before the unknown. 

I’m also happy to share our 2025 AAAS annual report produced amidst a time of profound disruption and challenges to the science and technology ecosystem is the US, with global ripple effects.
