Journey to  Fakarava UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve

In December 2025 I traveled to the Fakarava UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve in French Polynesia’s Tuamotu archipelago.   It was inspiring to see such a healthy marine ecosystem amidst significant challenges to global ocean health.  And it shows what’s possible with the rising tide of wise ocean stewardship including our recent historic conservation victory via the High Seas Treaty, ratified by the United Nations in September 2025.

I’m happy to share this short video of my experience, with the intention that it will inspire others with hope and action to ensure a healthy ocean to benefit future generations:
