Sustainable Harvest International announces “Million Farm Transformation”, with David Shaw as Advisory Council member

Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) announced today the launch of a “Million Farm Transformation to increase farm productivity with ecological practices that benefit people and the planet”. David Shaw serves on the Advisory Council of SHI.

SHI is a Maine-based non-profit organization with the mission of preserving the environment by partnering with families to improve well-being through sustainable farming.  Since 1997, the organization has worked with more than 3000 families to restore 26,000 acres of forestland, planting more than 4 million trees.  SHI programs seek to preserve tropical forests, expand community capacity, improve access to healthy foods and increase income levels.

The newly launched “Million Farm Transformation” is intended to dramatically scale SHI’s impact by helping farmers transition to regenerative organic practices.  The initiative seeks to reverse degradation on 8 million acres of land and achieve food security for 5 million people by 2030.  The press release for this launch can be found HERE.

David Shaw has supported SHI over many years.  He has extensive experience in the world of food and agriculture, and has helped build more than a dozen science-based companies.  He currently serves as a Patron of Nature for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and via that relationship and otherwise, is involved in sustainability and conservation initiatives globally – including support of SHI.
