IUCN Report on Ocean Deoxygenation

by David E Shaw

I share a new report of great significance on ocean deoxygenation, from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. This is a landmark study looking at how climate change together with nutrient run-off from land, and nitrogen deposition, is progressively reducing oxygen in the ocean. Over three years IUCN worked with 67 experts from 51 institutes in 17 countries to create this report, and to raise awareness of this key issue that affects the future of our oceans. I serve as a Patron of Nature at IUCN. The report was issued on December 7, 2019 at the UN Climate Change conference in Madrid.
