Itaconix Combination with Revolymer
In June 2016, Itaconix Corporation announced a combination with Revolymer PLC, a publicly held specialty chemicals business based in England. Black Point Group was a founding investor in Itaconix and David Shaw served on the company’s board of directors.
Itaconix develops, produces, and sells bio-based polymers from itaconic acid. Its products are currently used in consumer home care products across North America and Europe. The company was founded by its CEO John R. Shaw and its CTO Yvon G. Durant, Ph.D., in 2008 with bio-based polymer technology licensed from the University of New Hampshire.
Revolymer is an innovation-driven specialty chemical company focused on high- performance solutions to customers in personal care, consumer healthcare, home care, and industrial markets through the development of novel polymers, responsive encapsulation and targeted delivery systems. The company trades on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market under the ticker symbol REVO.L.
“Itaconix represents an extremely complementary business in terms of markets and products and also provides us with an operating presence in the important North American market,” said Kevin Matthews, Revolymer’s Chief Executive Officer.
